GSP DG in trouble over complaints about corruption, nepotism and incompetence

"dailytimes.com.pk", Pakistan on 22nd September 2011 : ……GSP Staff Association President Ghulam Nabi Raisani, Muhammad Khalid Khan, Daud Khan, Muhammad Tahir Khan Jadoon and others told Daily Times that there were lots of complaints about corruption, nepotism and incompetence of GSP DG Dr Imran Ahmed Khan. Dr Imran has been misusing his seat for corruption due to which majority of the officers in the department are against him, they said, adding, the DG due to DG’s conflict with the staff and other officers the department has become stagnant…..Officers of the GSP have given a written statement that Dr Imran was not eligible to become DG because in his ACR there were two marks less due to which he made a fake certificate from a university and prepared new ACRs from irrelevant persons.

As per media reports ECP has declared BA degree held by Afshan Farooq, Member of Punjab Assembly of PML-N as fake and directed the concerned quarters to take action against her.

Deadline for Federal Minister to prove his degree’s authenticity

"thenews.com.pk", Pakistan on 16th August 2011 : Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (r) Hamid Ali Mirza has given deadline to Federal Minister Sardar Israr Ullah Zehri to prove the authenticity of his degree till September 24 failing which a case for fraud would be registered against him. The CEC has directed the employees of election commission that the case regarding bogus educational degrees might be finalized at an early date so that action may be taken against bogus degree holder parliamentarians under the instructions of the Supreme Court.

“ibnlive.in.com”, India on 19th July 2011 : Shabaz Rajput, a counsel for LeT commander Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi who is a key accused in the Mumbai attacks, is among 57 Pakistani lawyers possessing fake degrees, a petition filed in the Supreme Court here claimed today, seeking cancellation of their licences. Malik Waheed Anjum, a former president of the Rawalpindi Bar Association, filed the application in the court of Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry. The court admitted his plea and asked different universities and institutions to provide the records of the 57 lawyers by August 31.

According to Daily Times findings in Islamabad District Court 25 cases were registered against the persons who were allegedly involved in submitting fake document to go abroad for study/visit…..In the row not only boys but also girls are involved in submitting fake documents for visa purposes. Ayesha Rafiq, submitted a fake MBA degree issued by a local university with UAE embassy. An FIR was registered against her on suspicion of fake documents.

“tribune.com.pk”, Pakistan on 20th April 2011 : The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday reserved its verdict in the fake degree case against Zain Sukhera, a key accused in the Hajj corruption case and a friend of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani’s son. During the hearing of the case, Sukhera’s lawyer argued that only a university could declare a degree bogus and the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) did not have the authority in this matter……Sukhera, a former consultant in Ministry of Information and Technology, was accused of involvement in the Hajj scam and holding a fake LLB degree from Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan. A case was registered against him on November 12, 2010.

“thenews.com.pk”, Pakistan on 03rd March 2011 : Efforts are allegedly on to bail out Zain Sukhera, the close friend of prime minister’s son, from at least three big scandals: the Haj scam; the PM’s son’s vehicle controversy; and an alleged fake degree, well placed sources told The News. …..Talking about his doubtful LLB degree, Zain said that he had neither submitted the said degree with the Information Technology Ministry nor had anyone ever asked him to do so. He said that the concerned university and the Punjab Bar Council had never told him about the degree problem.

Acting chairman in trouble for holding fake degree

“thenews.com.pk”, Pakistan on 19th Janaury 2011 : The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) Tuesday directed the government to place name of acting chairman of Pakistan Steel (PS) Mills Imtiaz Lodhi on Exit Control List (ECL) for holding fake degree which he also produced at the time his appointment as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in Zarai Taraqqiati Bank Limited (ZTBL) over four years back. The PAC members were astonished to hear that Lodhi whose ACCA degree was found fake on verification by ZTBL board on November 06, is currently holding prized post of acting chairman Pakistan Steel Mills.

“Samaa”, Pakistan on 12th January 2011 : Rana Ijaz Ahmed, a member of Punjab Assembly, is holding a fake graduation degree, Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) declared on Wednesday. Mr. Ahmed was elected from Punjab Assembly constituency PP-209. Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retd.) Hamid Ali Mirza has directed the concerned district police officer (DPO) to register an FIR against the lawmaker.

Four MPs face law over bogus certificates

“PakTribune”, Pakistan on 06th January 2011 : The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has referred cases of four more lawmakers having bogus degrees to the concerned district police officers (DPOs) for initiation of criminal proceedings against them. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (Retd) Hamid Ali Mirza referred cases of Sardar Ali, MPA (PK-34), Haji Nasir Mehmood, former MPA (PP-111), Ms Safina Aziz, MPA (PP-reserved seat) and Ms Safina Saima Khar, MPA (PP-reserved seat) to the concerned DPOs for registration of criminal cases against them under section 78(3)(d) of the Representation of the People’s Act, 1976.

Pakistan’s Election Commission warns legislators with fake degrees

“Business Recorder”, Pakistan on 29th November 2010 : The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has warned the legislators alleged for having fake credentials of initiating one-sided proceedings against them if they failed to appear before its committee probing the matter here today (Monday). The special committee of the ECP will take up the cases of 13 parliamentarians including two provincial ministers in a bid to provide them an opportunity to justify their academic degrees. …….In this respect, Syed Aqil Shah, Minister for Sports from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Nadir Magsi, Minister for Food from Sindh have been summoned by the committee. The committee will also take up the cases of two senators from Balochistan including Mohabbat Khan Marri, who got invalid degree from University of Sindh and Rehana Yahya Baloch. Three members of National Assembly are appearing before the committee to justify their bogus degrees they include, Jawad Hussain of NA 39, Mazhar Hyatt from NA 138, and Muhammad Salman Mohsin from NA 165. Legislators from Punjab Assembly asked by the committee to appear include Siama Aziz, Syeda Majida Rizvi, Saima Khar and Samina Khawar Hayat. Bashir Ahmad Khan from PS 56 and Sardar Ali from PS 34 from Sindh will be appearing before the Committee to present argument in favour of their alleged bogus degrees.
