"Deccan Herald", India on 15th May 2012 : The Bhadravathi Rural Police on Tuesday arrested six persons on the charge of creating fake marks cards and other certificates of the Kuvempu University. Police gave the names of the arrested as Shivakumar, Doodyanaik, Ramu, Siddachari, Devaraj and Shashikumar. The first four are permanent employees of the university and the others are on contract. The arrests were made after raids at eight locations in the vicinity of the university at Shankaraghatta.

"The Indian EXPRESS", India on 30th April 2012 : Acting on a tip-off, the city police on Sunday arrested five people for allegedly printing and selling fake certificates and marksheets for Classes VIII and X of the Punjab State Education Board. With the arrests, the police claim to have busted a gang that sold fake certificates. Among the five held on Sunday are two superintendents with the education board and another individual, who runs a tea stall just out the board’s head office in Mohali.

“The News”, Pakistan on 24th April 2012 : The district and sessions court on Monday declared the BA degree of Kishore Kumar, who is a Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) minority member, Khyber-Pukhtunkhwa provincial assembly, fake. The police arrested the minority Member of National Assembly (MPA) and shifted him to the district central jail as Session Judge Justice Shahjahan Khan awarded Kishore Kumar one year imprisonment and imposed fine of Rs15,000.

Authorities nab man for preparing bogus marksheets, certificates

"The Times of India", India on 15th April 2012 : Kotwali police on Saturday arrested a resident of Chak, Zero Road on charges of preparing fake marksheets and certificates of different universities and state secondary education board. On the basis of information provided by the arrested person, the police raided his shop at Zero Road and recovered 30 fake marksheets and certificates. Acting on a tip-off, a team of Kotwali police led by station house officer Ram Surat Sonkar and his associates nabbed Rajnish Yadav after receiving reports that he was engaged in preparing fake marksheets and certificates. Upon interrogation the arrested man took the police team to his shop in Zero Road where the police found fake marksheets and certificates of Bhopal University, Secondary Education Board, Rewa along with fake diploma certificates and marksheets of Agra University.

Nine suspects face trial for selling fake degree certificates

"CHINADAILY.com.cn", China on 10th April 2012 : Nine suspects stood trial at a local court in Beijing on Monday for selling fake degree certificates from universities in the United States to defraud people of about 3.4 million yuan ($540,000). The suspects swindled more than 30 people across the country, including some senior executives of big enterprises, by selling them fake doctorates or master's degree certificates from foreign universities between 2007 and 2010. They were charged with fraud, according to prosecutors from Beijing's Haidian district. The indictment said Liao Huangqi and Li Yongqiang, two principal suspects in the case, defrauded 2.82 million yuan and 587,400 yuan, respectively, while the other seven defendants cheated people out of about 500,000 yuan. During Monday's trial at the people's court of Haidian district, the suspects accepted the accusations and confessed, but disagreed on the amount of money that had been defrauded, Zhou Yuanqing, an information official of the court, told China Daily after the trial.

Those arrested in this connection are Sevak Ram Biswas of Bhaluwa-8, Asha Ram Rajbanshi (22) of Bhaluwa-4 and Pramod Rajbanshi of Bhaluwa-5, Sunsari district and Sajan Magar (21) and his sister Sujata Magar (19) of Kharaji, Morang district.

Fake degree racket busted, 5 held

"The Indian EXPRESS", India on 22nd March 2012 : A day after unearthing a nine-member gang involved in making fake educational and other documents, UT (Union Territory) Police SIT (Special Investigation Team) busted a four-member gang also involved in supplying fake degrees. The main accused Mukta Sharma (38) was serving as a director of a trust. Her husband Vikas Sharma was assisting her in the business. Kalpana, a Sector 23 resident, who was working as a manager at the sub-office and Naveed Anjum (32), an agent, have been arrested. In addition one of their clients have also been arrested. The four-member gang, had been operating from two offices- a sub office in Sector 35 and a main office being run under the name of Sai Service Education in Zirakpur.

Authorities nab kingpin of fake certificate scam

"timesofindia.indiatimes.com", India on 21st March 2012 : Police have arrested the kingpin of fake certificate racket, who is an ex-employee of DAVV (Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya) University, here late on Monday evening. The police have arrested Rafique Qureshi, who was absconding since the racket was busted, from Manik Bag area. On Monday, the police got a tipoff about his presence in Manik Bagh, cordoned off the area and arrested him. The accused has reportedly confessed of producing fake certificates for Rs 10,000 to 25,000, though the police believe that they used to charge somewhere between Rs 50,000 to Rs 80,000.

City Magistrate Rajesh Kumar Srivastava and Chief Medical Superintendent R P Sharma raided a private hospital and arrested its runner Dr Laxmi Shankar Mishra, police today said. Dr Mishra of Faizabad was found to be possessing fake MBBS and MD degrees.

Authorities bust forged documents-making racket

"dailybhaskar.com", India on 20th March 2012 : City police on Monday claimed to have busted a forged documents-making racket with the arrest of two persons and seized fake licenses and documents that could be used to acquire bank loans, college admissions and government's low cost houses, among others. The paralytic accused Dayanand Bansi (48), the mastermind of the racket, along with his two associates Parvez Makrani (32) and Dharamjeet Mishra (43), was booked on the charges of forgery and cheating, the police said. Makrani and Mishra were held yesterday and remanded in police custody for three days, the prime accused has not yet been arrested on the health grounds, as he is suffering from paralysis, the police said. ……Hundreds of forged documents like birth certificates, stamp papers, domicile certificates, election card, leaving certificates, bank stamps, SSC certificates, Pan Cards, police certificate, election card, school leaving certificates, slum photo pass, ration cards were also recovered, the police said.
