Woman forged resume to join Navy, obtains government-backed loan
"York Daily Record", USA on 02nd February 2012 : A woman who faked her resume to obtain a job with the U.S. Navy was indicted Wednesday on federal wire-fraud charges after she allegedly used forged documents to obtain a government-backed loan to purchase a $450,000 Chanceford Township property. Caitlin Lucille Walls Smith, 37, is already serving nearly three years in prison for forging her qualifications to join the Navy, where she worked as a naval reactors engineer, according to the U.S. Navy Public Affairs Office. She is also a fugitive in York County after she failed to appear for a court hearing on a false-report charge in May 2011. According to U.S. Attorney's Office in Harrisburg, Smith applied in July 2008 to be an officer in the nuclear program. On her application, during interviews and on other official paperwork, Smith claimed to have four degrees, including two doctorates in engineering, according to the federal indictment.
