Railway employee forges documents to get job in Sports Institute

“NDTV”, India on 26th April 2011 : Sportsmen are said to be fighters. But proving this wrong, Chunnilal Gupta (35), a Central Railway (CR) employee, allegedly forged dozens of certificates and collected numerous counterfeit medals, in order to gain entry into a training programme to become a coach, at the Netaji Subhash National Institute of Sports (NSNIS) in Patiala. An RTI investigation on the matter is underway. On April 6, 2011, a close colleague of Gupta, who has requested anonymity, registered a complaint with the divisional sports officer, CR. A copy of this complaint has been obtained by MiD DAY. According to the complaint, Gupta submitted false certificates for gaining admission at NSNIS, forging all the documents necessary.

Education Ministry to take action against private university for allegedly selling certificates

“bangkokpost.com”, Thailand on 27th April 2011 : The Education Ministry will take legal action against E-Sarn University in Khon Kaen province after an investigation alleged the private university had sold professional teacher certificates. The Teachers’ Council of Thailand (TCT) and the Office of the Higher Education Commission (OHEC) will file criminal and civil suits against the university on charges of document forgery, said vice minister for education Chaiyos Jiramethakorn yesterday. The alleged sale of professional teacher certificates by E-Sarn University came to light when seven graduates applied for teaching licences and submitted certificates the council believed to be fake.

Area FBI agents and federal prosecutors accuse the West Virginia man of wire fraud in playing the role of a decorated two-star major general with the U.S. Army to get an executive position with an Akron construction company. ”It’s kind of outrageous,” said assistant U.S. Attorney Robert Bulford. ”Anybody who served our country and sees this I think will be outraged.” FBI agents arrested Keyser, 56, after he left Tri-C Construction offices Thursday.

Man forges document to hide his criminal background

“stuff.co.nz”, New Zealand on 20th April 2011 : A man has been found guilty of forging a Ministry of Justice document so it appeared he did not have a criminal record when applying for a senior job with a disability care agency. Stephen Miers-Jones pleaded not guilty in Auckland District Court to one count of making a false document with the intention of using it and one count of using a false document to gain a benefit……Miers-Jones was, in fact, convicted and fined in Tauranga District Court in 2003 for using a forged postgraduate masters degree from Hertfordshire College of Art and Design, near London, and for lying on a disability allowance application to Work and Income New Zealand. Miers-Jones told the court he believed he had been discharged without conviction for these charges.

“dailytimes.com.pk”, Pakistan on 21st April 2011 : An election tribunal of the Lahore High Court (LHC), on Wednesday, issued notice on a petition challenging election of Pakistan Muslim League- Quaid’s (PML-Q) MPA Mian Tariq Mahmood from PP-113, Gujrat-VI. The tribunal sought reply from the MPA till next week. A voter, Muhammad Tariq, challenged the election of Mian Tariq. He alleged that Mian Tariq had a bogus BA degree.

High Court reserves its verdict in the fake degree of Prime Minister’s friend

“tribune.com.pk”, Pakistan on 20th April 2011 : The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday reserved its verdict in the fake degree case against Zain Sukhera, a key accused in the Hajj corruption case and a friend of Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani’s son. During the hearing of the case, Sukhera’s lawyer argued that only a university could declare a degree bogus and the Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) did not have the authority in this matter……Sukhera, a former consultant in Ministry of Information and Technology, was accused of involvement in the Hajj scam and holding a fake LLB degree from Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan. A case was registered against him on November 12, 2010.

“hindu.com”, India on 21st April 2011 : A pilot possessing a U.S. airline transport pilot licence (ATPL), who allegedly resorted to fraud to obtain the same licence in India as he could not clear one of the five papers in an examination conducted by the Directorate-General of Civil Aviation, has been arrested by the Delhi Police. Swarn Singh Talwar of neighbouring Gurgaon, who earlier worked for a private airline, was arrested on Tuesday. According to the police, he procured the ATPL in India through Pradeep Tyagi, who has already been arrested along with Pradeep Kumar, a DGCA assistant director, and touts Lalit Jain and Pankaj Jain.

Lawyer with bogus degree fought cases for 27 years

“mumbaimirror.com” India on 20th April 2011 : After a 27-year stint in the corridors of justice, a ‘lawyer’ has found himself on the wrong side of the law. Mazgaon resident Dilip Vijaypurkar, 49, was arrested on Sunday for allegedly practising on a fake law degree. The Bhiwandi police said Vijaypurkar, who practised since 1984, presently had at least a dozen cases in hand. He has so far fought cases in four different courts – Mazgaon, Thane, Vasai and Bhiwandi. Of the nearly 80 cases he has fought so far, three were ruled in his clients’ favour. “Since a year, Vijaypurkar had been practising at Bhiwandi court.

University under investigation for supplying fake qualifications

“bangkokpost.com”, Thailand on 20th April 2011 : The”Kurusapa” Teacher Council of Thailand has launched an investigation into a private university accused of selling professional teacher certificates. The outcome of the investigation is expected to be disclosed on Friday, said council secretary-general Ongkorn Amornsirinant yesterday. The alleged sale of professional teacher certificates by E-Sarn University in Khon Kaen province came to light when seven recent graduates applied for teaching licences and submitted certificates the council believed to be fake. The graduates allegedly confessed that they had all bought the certificates from a private university, according to Mr Ongkorn.

“deccanherald.com”, India on 16th April 2011 : Two staff members of the examination section of the Sampurnanand Sanskrit University here have been arrested in a fake marksheet case, police said today. Vijay Nath Shukla and Mihir Mishra were arrested after the two were suspended by the university authorities last night, police said. Public relations officer of the university Shashindra Mishra said, an FIR was registered against the two at Chetganj police station last week after a complaint was received from Rajkumar Dubey, principal of the District Institute for Education and Training (DIET), Baghpat.

D to ration card, passbooks – and seized from their possession computers and scanners used for the purpose, along with 200 ‘certificates’. The arrested persons are Pusala Anilkumar, Bayya Krishna and Rapaka Naveen Kumar.
