Vietnam: Bogus doctorate degree from a diploma mill

HANOI, Vietnam: According to the Vietnam Net dated 28 July 2010, doctoral diploma earned from Malaysia by Nguyen Van Ngoc, Deputy Party Secretary of Yen Bai province, has been suspected as bogus. Nguyen Van Thanh, Yen Bai Party Committee Office Chair, explained that Yen Bai Party Committee had decided in October 2008 to send Ngoc to a two year doctoral training course in business administration at a “South Pacific University†but instead he obtained the doctorate in only six months. Later it was found the university is not recognized and is a diploma mill.
